HANDCRAFTED FOR 30 YEARS

Founded in 1946, YONEX has evolved from a manufacturing company into a globally recognized Japanese sports brand, producing a wide range of sporting goods, including badminton, tennis, and golf rackets, as well as snowboards. Approximately ten years after its founding, YONEX began producing badminton rackets, thus entering the sports industry. Twenty years later, the company introduced carbon fiber racket manufacturing and developed unique production methods that became known as YONEX (Carbon) sports equipment. This advanced carbon fiber technology was eventually applied to snowboard development, resulting in YONEX products distinguished by features not found in other brands.
The YONEX factory in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, plays a central role in the development and production of these high-quality snowboards. Its proximity to snow-covered mountains provides ideal conditions for testing and further development. Badminton and tennis rackets are also produced at the same facility, and the shared use of carbon technology enables rapid and efficient product development.
Unlike most snowboard manufacturers who use wood as a core material, YONEX relies on carbon fiber. This approach allows for precise control of the properties required for snowboarding, such as flexibility and torsional rigidity. Carbon fiber offers the advantage of producing stable products with minimal quality variations. By adjusting the fiber combinations and designs, specific properties like stiffness and torsional rigidity can be achieved. Furthermore, the use of carbon fiber enables a significant weight reduction in snowboards, resulting in improved performance.
Developing snowboards without the traditional wood core presented YONEX with challenges. Initially, there was no data or templates for such designs, leading to numerous prototypes and tests. However, through continuous research and development, as well as close collaboration between designers and engineers, YONEX was able to create snowboards with outstanding performance and quality. Manufacturing takes place under strict quality control in their own factories, with each production step carefully monitored to ensure the highest precision and consistency.
Thanks to this innovative spirit and commitment to quality, YONEX has become one of Japan's leading snowboard brands since entering the snowboard market in 1995. The unique combination of traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art carbon technology allows YONEX to produce snowboards that are recognized worldwide and popular with both recreational and professional athletes. Since 2025, YONEX snowboards have also been available directly in the European Union.
